Diane Haylock General Secretary
Diane C. Haylock officially assumed the role of General Secretary of the YWCA Belize at the beginning of 2022, bringing with her a distinguished career spanning decades in NGO leadership and public service. Her early work in the 1980s and 1990s positioned her as a prominent advocate in Belize’s civil society sector, including her tenure as Executive Director of the Society for the Promotion of Education and Research (SPEAR).
Ms. Haylock holds a Master’s Degree in Development Studies, with a specialization in Women’s Development, and has served extensively as a Gender Development and Culture Consultant throughout the 2000s. She later transitioned to public service, leading the National Institute of
Culture and History (NICH) as President, CEO, and Chair of the Board of Directors for eight years.
Most recently, she represented Belize on the international stage as the country’s Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan) and Japan during the latter part of the 2020. Her return to the NGO sector—her true professional passion—marks a continued commitment to advancing social development and gender equity in Belize.
