1. Education & Training
We believe education is the cornerstone of empowerment. YWCA Belize offers a variety of programs to foster intellectual and personal growth:
- Preschool & Day Care: Serving children aged 2 months to 5 years, we provide a safe, nurturing environment focused on social, emotional, and educational development.
- After-School Tutoring: Supporting primary school students in Math, English, Reading, and Spanish, facilitated by dedicated volunteers.
- Helping Early Leavers Program (HELP): A life-changing initiative for young women (ages 13–18) offering vocational skills, life skills, and preparation for the Primary School Examination (PSE).
2. Skills Training
Equipping women and youth with practical skills for independence and self-reliance:
- Vocational Training: Cake Decorating, Sewing, Food Preparation, Cosmetology, and Hospitality.
- English as a Second Language (ESL): Enabling individuals to improve their communication skills and access better job opportunities.
- Small Business Development: Helping participants turn their skills into entrepreneurial ventures.
3. Community Development
Reaching beyond urban centers, we bring programs to rural areas to address the unique needs of underserved populations:
- HIV/AIDS Awareness and Prevention: Workshops to educate and empower community members.
- Senior Citizen Engagement: Activities promoting physical and mental well-being among “seenagers.”
- Leadership Programs: Workshops for youth to develop confidence and skills for personal and community development.
4. Advocacy and Human Rights
We are steadfast in promoting gender equality, human rights, and the empowerment of women and girls. Our initiatives aim to:
- Foster equality in education and employment.
- Address violence and discrimination against women and girls.

Designed to Empower, Educate, and Inspire
Our wide range of programs and services cater to the diverse needs of Belizean women, girls, and communities:
Child Development
- Day Care and Preschool: High-quality, affordable childcare for children aged 2 months to 5 years, focusing on emotional, social, and academic growth.
- After-School Tutoring: Support in Math, English, Reading, and Spanish for primary school students.
Education and Skills Training
- HELP (Helping Early Leavers Program): A cornerstone initiative offering vocational training, life skills, and education for young women aged 13–18.
- Sustainable Skills Training: Courses in cake decorating, sewing, food preservation, cosmetology, and more.

Our Impact

The YWCA is a national non-governmental, not-for-profit Christian organization committed to making opportunities available for the spiritual, intellectual and physical development of women and girls in Belize.
